Timgad is an iconic Moroccan restaurant in Paris's 17th arrondissement, established since 1971 at 21 rue Brunel. A true oriental palace, it transports guests to the heart of the Maghreb through its sumptuous decor of finely chiseled stucco, Moorish tiles, and central fountain. PARIS 17 "Connaître une bonne adresse de couscous" est une expression doublement réductrice : primo, c'est une idée simpliste de la cuisine nord-africaine, secundo la formule évoque implicitement le bistrot à petit prix. Si raffinement, luxe et cuisine orientale ne sont pas pour vous des notions antinomiques, le Timgad est l'adresse idéale où déguster couscous, tajines et méchoui. S'il ne reste plus que des vestiges (classés au patrimoine mondial de l'humanité de l'UNESCO) de l'antique cité de Timgad dans les Aurès, le restaurant Timgad, installé depuis des lustres à deux pas de la porte Maillot, se porte, lui, à merveille. Stucs finement ciselés, carrelages mauresques, meubles traditionnels vous transportent sans délai de l'autre côté de la Méditerranée, les verres teintés des vitres achèvent de vous isoler de la vie parisienne. De même, la courtoisie du service est tout orientale. Le service réparti en deux salles, séparées par l'accueil conçu comme un patio avec sa fontaine, assure un confort feutré aux clients. Le luxe et le raffinement ne se cantonnent pas au décorum, à l'argenterie et autres cristaux, le même soin est apporté à la cuisine. La carte propose moult bricks et salades, mais aussi (ce qui est moins courant) d'excellents potages et soupes (cherba, harira), des briouates, une grande variété de couscous et de tajines, un méchoui d'agneau rôti au charbon de bois... Profusion de saveurs, de parfums et une constante : la légèreté. Le séjour au Timgad est voluptueux et quasi aérien.
