Rue Léon Frot, au coeur du vibrant XIè arrondissement parisien, nous avons eu le plaisir de rénover le café Comets. C’est un lieu de vie façonné par Marion et Jérôme au fil des six dernières années. Le temps était venu de faire une pause et de réinventer cet endroit qui les avait portés jusqu’ici. Ils aspiraient à un espace conçu comme un véritable outil de travail, à la fois fluide et fonctionnel, mais aussi à une rénovation respectueuse de l’âme qu’ils avaient patiemment façonnée : une ambiance chaleureuse mêlant bois brut, surfaces noires et luminaires chinés. Notre ambition fut de sublimer cette atmosphère en lui conférant une matérialité plus vibrante. Donner du corps Nous avons imaginé un nouvel espace entre continuité et renouveau. Rien ne devait disparaître, mais tout devait être transformé. Le bois a été magnifié, le noir réinterprété à travers une matière singulière et l’espace restructuré. Les comptoirs sont devenus le cœur du lieu, dessinés pour orchestrer chaque geste. Trois modules distincts se répondent : un îlot avec une forme de boomerang qui invite à entrer, un espace dédié à la préparation du café et un grand comptoir mural pour les besoins de la cuisine. La matérialité comme récit La matière est une mémoire vivante. Nous avons voulu que chaque surface raconte une histoire, sensible et durable. Les comptoirs principaux sont habillés de carreaux coulés à la main par Gwilen, un atelier qui transforme les sédiments marins en matériau singulier. Ces carreaux, nés de la vase qui obstrue les ports, sont cuits à basse température pour révéler une texture brute, parcourue d’aspérités et de nuances profondes. Transformer un déchet en une matière vibrante et résiliente, c’était notre manière de réinterpréter le noir cher à Comets : non plus une teinte figée, mais une surface vivante qui capte et transforme la lumière. Le chêne blond, doux sous la main, adoucit les lignes du mobilier et apporte du charme au lieu. Les placards blancs cassés se fondent dans l’espace pour laisser respirer le volume. Dans la cuisine, les mosaïques en grès cérame pleine masse révèlent une texture subtile et douce, tandis que l’inox lumineux apporte une touche résolument fonctionnelle, conçue pour accompagner les gestes du quotidien. Sans agrandir l’espace, nous avons imaginé une architecture qui gagne en générosité par un dessin minutieux et attentif aux usages. Chaque ligne a été pensée pour libérer du volume, chaque matériau choisi pour dialoguer avec la lumière. Cette nouvelle respiration a été rendue possible par la restructuration des comptoirs et le réaménagement de la salle.

Great coffee and records shop Julien Pacaud is a digital collage artist, working also as an illustrator for press, music industry and advertisement. Not only that but they sell incredible tote bags, with great straps and nice minimal design that will last you a life time. Out the back is a small gallery space, often showcasing the work of featured artist who's book is for sale in the shop. One of my favourite things about this shop is how friendly and welcomign they are! Not only that but they do cool collaborations, such as the one with David Horvitz, where he emails them a new photograph of the sky every day, the bookshop prints it out and you can only buy that one image on the day.
