Chez Ann IF U ARE LIKE US AND U LOVE THOSE TINY PARCELS OF DELICIOUSNESS CALLED DUMPLINGS, THEN CHEZ ANNA IS FOR U. Sure, there are many places to get dim sum, even in a city like Paris which is only recently opening up to the idea, but Chez Ann is a head above the rest as all its dim sums are organic and healthy. Doesn't that have a nice guilt-free ring to it? This is the second location of the now successful Chez Ann, that originally started with its Sichuan noodle restaurant on the left bank. The success of its first location gave birth to this right bank gem that now specialises in some of the tasties and freshest dim sum in the city. The atmosphere is easy-going and zen, and although it is a very small restaurant the outdoor seating is lovely during the summer, and there is even a 'secret room' in the back where you can ask to be seated (if you are in-the-know). Of course, the menu is what grabs our attention with dumplings made from organic flour and accompanied with rice, edamame beans or seaweed salad, and ranging from veggie to seafood to meat. There is also a selection Japanese gyoza (fried chicken dumplings) and even a day's special noodle soup which you can order gluten-free with flavours may include beef, roast chicken or shrimp. As they say - good things come in small packages, and Chez Ann proves just that. We tried the shrimp, pork and squid. We also ordered extra pork but fried instead of steamed. I would say the menu wasn’t the most clear, and whilst one of the waitresses did point and say “not this one, or this” I did find the lack of transparency on the menu a bit worrying. My husband who is celiac didn’t have any symptoms so obviously everything was fine. It would just be even better if it was clearly labelled. Mais pas n’importe lesquels : ceux-ci sont frais et savoureux, faits à la main et garantis sans glutamate. Leur pâte, un peu plus épaisse que de coutume, renferme des farces légères et bien parfumées, assez traditionnelles (porc au céleri, crevettes) ou plus originales (calmars aux châtaignes d’eau). Majoritairement cuits à la vapeur, certains se dorent pourtant la pilule : dim sum revenus à la poêle (à la farine complète et porc) ou nems crevette et végétariens, ils se savourent avec autant de plaisir.
